Brief Interviews to be made into a film?
I'm not sure how this is supposed to work.
In addition to "The Office," Krasinski and Novak have other projects in development. Krasinski has had several small, but smartly chosen, parts in films such as "Kinsey," "Jarhead," and Christopher Guest's forthcoming "For Your Consideration." He'll also write the screenplay for a film version of David Foster Wallace's "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men."
My guess is that they are referring to the set of short stories specifically entitled "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men" (as oppossed to the short story collection by the same name, in which these stories can be found).
The brief interviews consist solely of a number of interview transcripts in which men delineate various hideous behaviors associated with their sexual appetites. Only the answers are shown (the questions are simply marked as "Q").
Not exactly fodder for compelling filmmaking, although I suppose it could be carried off if done correctly.

If anything, "Brief Interviews" would work best as a theatrical piece in a small venue.

Agreed. Actually, I think it has been adapted into just that.

My immediate thought was, "Waiting for Guffman"-style mockumentary. Which is maybe making too much sense to me, right now..
